ACFP – The Respected Voice of Family Medicine in Alberta

Understanding Who’s Who in Alberta’s Health Care

One of the goals identified in the ACFP’s strategic plan is for the ACFP to be recognized as a respected and influential voice of family physicians in Alberta. Representatives from the ACFP have long been involved in the provision of positive, proactive, and responsive counsel to stakeholders in Alberta’s health care system.

The Government of Alberta, Alberta Medical Association, the Departments of Family Medicine, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons are some of the major organizations that the ACFP collaborates with regularly to ensure the value of family physicians and the vision of the Patient’s Medical Home (PMH) is upheld during discussions on improving patient care, health policy development, health care innovation, system transformation, building efficiencies and advancement of common strategies.

As the health care system changes and new approaches to the provision of primary care are contemplated, the ACFP endeavours to bring the voice of its membership to the discussion. In order to do that, it has been our goal to continually reach out to our members to ask for feedback and input on current issues and resource needs.
